"This book is very fun, especially if you're waiting in an emergency room. . It has a lot of tips and ideas and places for you to do your own. Even when finished scribbling in the book I'll keep it for the ideas. I could do without the project pages - those are kind of a waste as I can figure out my own projects, but others may really enjoy them. It's strictly personal preference I guess. I took it to Staples to have it spiral bound which made it a lot easier to work in. Now it lays flat and I can get to the edges of each page better. It's kind of annoying to have to hold the book folded back or hold it open on a desk and it doesn't lay flat with the current binding. Or I guess you could force it but that would break the binding anyway, so getting it spiral bound was a good solution to the only problem I had with it. I'll be keeping this for a long time."

- I buy a lot of art and craft books and this one is already one of my favorites. It's beautifully put together, with brightly colored and decorated pages and good ideas for using your artwork to wear or display. The part I like best is that there are spaces in the book for you to try the designs she's teaching you, but it's too nice to call it a "work book." If you're a fan of the Zentangle books, you'll love this one. If you're just a casual doodler, this is the next step to making your doodles more than just random marks on paper. Highly recommended!
- First of all, let me say that I make many purchases from . Rarely, however, do I actually review a book or product. This book is wonderful. There is not another book of this type out there. It not only helps with creativity, but it gives you space to practice. I love all the different exercises given to help spark your imagination. If you like to doodle, zentangle, etc. this one is worth the money. I'm really hoping that there are other books coming from this author/artist.
- This book is well-done and a lot of fun, but be sure it's what you're looking for. This is NOT a "how to doodle" book. (Etsy seller Chubby Mermaid has an AMAZING book for that purpose -- perfect for those of us who need actual instructions to doodle!) It's more doodling prompts and projects.
They're very approachable, with easy-to-follow instructions and -- for most -- plenty of room to practice right inside the book. The pages are even extra-sturdy to hold up to "wetter" media. A few projects will need to be done outside the book just due to their nature. There's a project that involves doodling on wood, one that is for textiles, etc. Obviously you can't do these inside the book!
The book is colorful, too, with lots of doodled examples to get your creative juices flowing. I did find it slightly awkward to work with, because the book is slightly "oversized" and it doesn't open flat.
Still, I would definitely recommend it -- just don't expect it to teach you HOW to doodle; if that's what you're looking for you'll want to get something else for that and then come BACK to this. - by Ilah
Even with many pages left blank for practicing, this is still a pretty good sized book with lots of material. There is a lot more here than in the thin little zentangle books. (The zentangle books are good, just a little thin for the price.)
It is a really beautiful book. It is fun to look through.
I like having the blank practice space in the book. I enjoy going through the book practicing all the doodles, it is very relaxing. I find myself more likely to practice as opposed to other books I have where I have to get out a separate piece of paper to doodle with.
Once I have practiced the doodles, I find myself incorporating many of the elements into my own doodles. Since using the book, I find myself doing many new designs in doodling and not just things in the book. It is like the doodles in the book are sparking off new doodle ideas in my head.
I enjoy the author's style of doodling. It is very loose and casual and freeform. It feels more spontaneous than the zentangles style of doodling. With a few exceptions, such as the portrait doodles, I did not feel that I needed to work on my artistic skills before I could do them.
I did not care for the projects. Most of them seemed to be geared toward a parent with young children. I was a bit puzzled that the purse project called for doodling on paper, scanning your doodle, printing it out on an iron on sheet, ironing it on the project and then coloring in with fabric markers. It seemed needlessly complex. Why not just doodle directly on the project with fabric markers?
I was disappointed that doodling on abstract painting was only presented as an idea and not done out in detail. This is the techniques used to create the amazing cover of the book. I would like to try it, but I do not have enough information. Will any type of pen work over any type of paint? Do you put a fixative on it in between the paint and the pen? I suppose I could experiment, but canvas is significantly more than paper. I do not want to waste a bunch of canvas finding the right combination.
Even though I did not care for the projects, I felt there is still enough in the book I liked to make me happy with my purchace. - This book is very fun, especially if you're waiting in an emergency room. . It has a lot of tips and ideas and places for you to do your own. Even when finished scribbling in the book I'll keep it for the ideas.
